Six concepts were eventually taken and refined to conclude Round 1. I provided both logotypes (logo+symbol) and symbols alone, to allow for better evaluation of the symbols' strength on their own.
Ideation & Development - Round 2
Once the client had chosen the fifth of the six provided concepts for further study, I provided a few variants on the design. In the end, the design was kept largely unaltered, with the exception of tightening up the outer "L" shape, foregoing the idea of the third ion departing the system.

Color Scheme Variants
Equally important was to select a color scheme for the company in general. Various ideas were pursued, but the initial blue and tan color scheme was eventually kept for the final product.
