In 2015 I was tasked with the design, layout and artwork for The Abington Park Outdoor Classroom Project - Key Stages 1 & 2 Education Packs. They are linked to the UK national curriculum and created especially for schools to use.
Each pack has a main character that guides you through each section (Owl for KS1 & Fox for KS2). Each of the packs help teachers and leaders explore the rich heritage and biodiversity of Abington Park (Northampton, UK) and use it as an educational opportunity.
What makes these packs unusual - in addition to learning about the site itself, is that pupils and teachers can provide a launchpad for teaching aspects of the national curriculum outdoors, back in their own schools. These packs are the tools to encourage teachers to take learning outside and reap the rewards of this approach.
The packs have been created in interactive PDF format and contain live internet connections, links to downloadable content, an interactive contents page and navigation.
