Originally from Southern California, I came to the University of Kentucky to pursue a dual Bachelors degree in Interior Design and Economics (the actual reasoning behind that is quite long). Through my time at UK, I took a wide multitude of courses: studio every semester (in which every semester was a different type of design), Environmental Sustainability, Marketing, Management, Developmental Economics, Poverty Economics, Accounting, Photography, Achitectural History, Materials, Lighting Design, Construction, Revit/CAD, Photoshop, Illustrator, Excel, to name a few. My college experience gave me a wide understanding and a comprehensive education. I learned a lot about a wide variety of disciplines within an Interior Design degree, and what I could pursue with my degree. At the same time, I studied Economics because it was also a passion of mine. Having these two degrees allowed me to work both right-brain and left-brain activities, expanding my train of thought and allowing me to think outside of the box in both disciplines. While in studio, I discovered that I thoroughly enjoyed Programming and Design Development, as well as the fields of Hospitality, Healthcare, Museum/Theater, and Federal Design. I hoped that my background in Interior Design would make me a more diversed candidate for a Masters Degree in Architecture. With my broader understanding of all things design, I hope that I can make a difference through the built environment.
