My name is Louise Whittaker and I am currently in the second year of a BA Honours degree in Product Design at Bournemouth University. During this time I have been given the opportunity to develop a sound understanding in concept generation, manufacture and prototyping whilst learning about relevant technological principles. Alongside extracurricular work, I am constantly learning and developing my design skills. I am a good team player with the enthusiasm and high self-motivation to learn and improve new skills that are vital for a career in the design industry. To work for a product design company would be invaluable in helping me complete my course and also give me the opportunity to make a beneficial contribution towards a Design team.
• Bournemouth University Student Ambassador
Provided me with an opportunity to enhance my communication, interpersonal and organisational skills. It also boosted my confidence. It is gratifying knowing that I had a positive impact on future pupils and parents by sharing advice and personal experiences.
• Duke of Edinburgh
I completed my bronze award. It helped me improve my fitness, leadership skills and social development by experiencing a range of challenging situations.
• Volunteering
I am a keen volunteer and have volunteered at 'Sussex Fundays' which is an activity scheme run during the summer holidays for children with special needs. I also volunteered at Rainbows (the pre Brownie group) for 4 months where I used my creative ability to generate games and arts and crafts activities.
• Prefect
I was a prefect at Millais from September 2008. My duties involved working as a staff assistant to the Director of Learning during my lunch break and helping at Parents Evenings.
