I am a French industrial designer living in southern California.
I have 6+ years experience as an industrial designer and 4+ years experience as a mother.
I have been moving a lot lately (Antwerp, Paris, Santa Monica, Berlin) and I am now settled in the Los Angeles area for good. Ready to take on new challenges.
In the past I worked mainly as an "in house" designer but also as a freelance designer. I liked them both but I have to say that I love being part of a team (designers, product managers, communication, technicians...). Yes, I am a team player.
As a designer I provide trend and market research. I sketch then make realistic renderings to help out with the decisions, make all the technical drawings and follow up with the manufacturers to make sure that my design goes through the whole process as I envisioned it.
For over 5 years I have been working for DELSEY (2004-2009).
I started in Antwerp (B) where I was in charge of the design of luggage for hypermarkets, shoolbags, licences (such as Rollerblade, Yakari...) and graphic design (gift box, tags, graphics for schoolbags...)
Then I moved to Paris (F) and started to work for retail.
Working for DECATHLON (QUECUA, KIPSTA, GEONAUTE in 2003 as an intern and TRIBORD in 2004 as a jr designer) made me realise what "team work" meant. I was surrouned by talented product, fashion and graphic desgners who taught me how to be efficient, follow a timeline and stick to the budget.
In a few month I got the opportunity to design bags (hiking, climbing, urban...), shoes (volleyball, soccer, basketball), wet suits, diving boots...
At VOLKSWAGEN (product design department, 2003-2004) I worked on advanced projects. Less constraints... Refreshing ! This experience gave me the opportunity to work closely with the car design industry.
The first time I handled a project from A to Z all by myself was during my internship at TEFAL (T-FAL, 2001). To create my range of spatulas I cooked, sketched, made 3D models to help the managers choose a design, made technical drawings and worked with a modeler to validate the shapes. I also went to Italy to visit the factory. At the same time I created graphics for pans and helped on various projects.
