LISA CAINERO – Biography
Lisa started her advertising career at DB Graphics and Ogilvy & Mather.
She entered the world of Publishing with Condé Nast as Art Director of Vogue Entertaining, Children & Brides. She was then headhunted to art direct the first issues of Harper’s Bazaar in Australia.
Lisa freelanced in New York working as a book designer at Random House, with authors such as Martha Stewart amongst others.
She also worked as a correspondent, journalist and documentary photographer for various publishers back in Australia – she saw action in Central America, on the Polisario Front in the Western Sahara, covered stories on the rise of Islamic fundamentalism in Algeria, Prague’s second revolution, the collapse of the Berlin Wall and the fall of communism in Eastern Europe.
As a book designer Lisa has worked for publishers in Sydney, New York, London & Paris: Random House (NYC), Transworld Publishers, ACP Books and Doubleday (SYDNEY), Phaidon, (LONDON) Thames & Hudson, Hachette (PARIS).
Lisa returned to Australia, where she art directed Interior Architecture Magazine, India Modern and designed the prototype for the successful Hip Hotel series of books.
She then Art Directed Studio Magazines: Black+White, Blue, Collections, Bambini, Men and Brides, plus other one-off titles. Lisa then went on to work as an Art Director at Desire Brand Management, where she designed environmental graphics and corporate ID for the IMAX building, Sydney.
In the lead up to and during the Sydney 2000 Olympics, Lisa was the Creative Director of ISES (International Sports Entertainment Strategies) an agency established to service the official 2000 Olympic Supporters – Coca Cola and South Pacific Tyres, whilst designing other official merchandise with the Ink Group.
Lisa’s next role was as the Creative Director for Ferrari in Australasia for the next 5 years. She also worked as Senior Designer for John Sands and the Ink Group (American Greetings) designing their corporate ID, retail products, packaging and point-of-sale material, which involved designing point-of-sale for The Progressive Group Supermarkets in New Zealand: Woolworths, Foodtown, Countdown and The Warehouse.
Lisa designed the environmental and retail graphics for T2 – the international passenger terminal and retail precinct at Sydney’s Kingsford Smith Airport.
She joined Traffic in 2005 as an Art Director working on TONI&GUY, label.m, Raine&Horne and World Kitchen. She was the Design Director for I.D.E.A.S. during 2008-2009 working on WWF Climate Savers and Allianz.
In 2010 Lisa joined Ocean Media as Creative Director, redesigning bi-monthly magazines OCEAN and OFFSHORE YACHTING and launched SAILS magazines and Ocean media’s 3 websites.
After 7 years at Ocean Media, Lisa worked freelance at advertising agency Momentum Worldwide Australia on Samsung and corporate communications at ArmstrongQ.
From the end of 2018 Lisa has been attaining experience working for government at the NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet on Australia day and at the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission designing the website, intranet and app, consumer and corporate communications.
