The School of Architecture at Cal Poly
Pomona houses the newly independent, consolidated program for Architecture. This new building is solely meant to serve architecture students needs by centralizing all resources necessary from Buildings 7 and 3. This new facility serves 150 studio spaces for graduate students and 4th and 5th year undergraduate students, along with new faculty offices, administration, large lecture theater, classrooms, seminar rooms, print/fabrication, library/media room, cafe and lounge spaces as well as a double story atrium for guest lectures and open gallery space. Because this new building connects directly with the IDC (studio space for 1st-3rd year undergraduates), there is a commons, or “living room”
which is meant to serve students in a social setting. This space is meant to be used for events and gatherings, and
with the addition of garage doors, it is ideal to create indoor/outdoor space with the centralized courtyard.
