Graphic Design is the perfect job. I find myself telling anyone who will listen to be a graphic
designer. I love the creativity, flexibility, and variety that I get to work with on a daily basis.
I am looking for a stable, part time a job, that allows me to continue working from home in Logan UT. I prefer working an average of 15 hours per week. I understand that discussing designs can be easier in person. I have a fairly flexible schedule and am willing to come into an office periodically, to discuss projects in person. The majority of my experience is with designing print materials, I know the Adobe Creative Suite and use it daily.
I currently work part time for both USU and Rock-Slide Engineering in Logan. These two jobs along with my freelance work have allowed me to expand my portfolio and work with a variety of
personalities. I have learned how to adjust my work to fit the vision of my employer. I understand that in the end the design needs be exactly what the employer desires not necessarily what the designer ‘likes’. Additionally by working with a variety of people and projects I can effectively estimate the time needed to accomplish a task.
I keep my designs fresh and new by always looking for new and creative layout choices. I
compile these ideas as I find them and then have a large selection to refer to when I’m given a new project. This helps me have a variety of new ideas but not take extra time each project to find them.
I have a background in photography and include many of my photos in my design work. This skill enhances my designs because I can photograph my subjects with the end design goal in mind. I know what size, color, and layout I will need for the finished product and can therefore cater my photos to those specifics.
As a new mother I am continually appreciating my career choice. I choose to work from home and can therefore fulfill both my career and family responsibilities. I do this by having excellent
communication lines with my employer. I check my phone and email multiple times a day to make sure my employer feels that they can reach me during business hours. Because of my family
responsibilities I work during my most convenient hours, which aren’t always between 8 and 5.
However I always accomplish my assigned tasks. I hate procrastination and aim to finish my projects on time if not early. When difficulties arise I always keep my employer in the loop so that they know if the appointed time frame needs to change, so that there are never surprises.
As I continue my career in graphic design I find that my attention to detail, creativity, and
communication skills are key character traits that make my days run smoothly. I know how to prioritize my time and work with the end goal in mind. I believe that these qualities only enhance my value as a graphic designer.
