DC THOMSON & CO LTD
Dundee, United Kingdom
Oct 2012 - Aug 2013 (10 months)
D.C. Thomson's decision to transform the UK's longest running children's comic, The Dandy, into a digital-only publication and app saw our team tasked with creating a fun and exciting online presence for The Dandy, with a website to support the title and carry fresh content not available in the app.
My role was to create animations for the digital Dandy Comic with Adobe Edge Animate with a weekly turnaround. This task also included testing for bugs and fixing functionality issues with the interactivity of the strips.
While at DC Thomson, I also worked on the new Dennis and Gnasher website. I created vector graphics for use on their website and for animated sprite sheets for their GNASH BANG WALLOP! game and produced a fully animated opening for unregistered visitors to the site.
There was also an opportunity to work on creating a new comic strip with a Dandy scriptwriter, for which I collaborated on development of the storyline and created character designs and storyboards, taking them from initial concept through to completion.
