Larry Forte
Artist Bio.
In 1986 I received a certificate of painting from the Ringling Collage of Art and Design
I make paintings now and I probably will for the rest of my life.
Anyway after art school I hung around Sarasota Florida for a while and worked at a few crappy restaurants, a prop painting co., and a dock building co. and finally for the John and Mabel Ringling Museum of Art as an art handler/preparator. I passed the rest of my time drinking beer, making art, putting on art shows in my apartment, and playing in two severely obnoxious rock bands. I’m smart, sensitive and highly skilled, and I am serious about my work though I don’t like to talk about it much. I want it to be appreciated for what it is without the need for chattering on. However, I like flattery so naturally I will listen If you want to tell me what you like about it. I am a Gemini so I can also be a lot of fun if I am not to busy being sensitive or distracted, or talking about coffee. Did I say I worked at the Guggenheim? Well I did. I spent five years in NYC, then after I moved to Athens, five more shuffling back and forth couch surfing, and freelancing at museums and galleries. Yippee! That was fun, but I finally got a job here in Athens Ga. at the Georgia Museum of Art. I’ve been there almost ten years. Yes 10 years! Over the past 5 years I have built up a decent graphic design portfolio and I have dusted off the old guitar and I have begun to play in public again. I’m married to a lovely woman and a brilliant artist and we have two awesome dogs.
Look me up. I have quite a few web presences. Thanks!
