Unroll: upcycling of paperboard tubes to design interior products
The project addresses the issue of solid wastes generated in the disposal process, considering the importance of material reuse. It aims at a behavioral change regarding consumption habits and attitude towards the environment. It also required a creation of a Visual Identity which consisted of: naming, brand, business card(that also works as a product tag), manual for product assembling, website and posters for dissemination.
The study involved an immersion in garbage-sorting communities and the launch of a campaign to collect paperboard tubes from people and local restaurants. The development of the products were conducted by the method “perceive -think-act”proposed by McKim (1999). As a result, we created products with these tubes that can be made by craft communities.
The Puffer is a ceiling luminaire formed by pieces of paper towel tubes fit together, configuring a shape of a flattened sphere.
