My name is Katie Whatley. I am a graphic designer, but I consider myself to be an artist first and foremost.
For the past five years, my career has required me to work with my customers both near and far to satisfy their needs and to get their message across. As an artist I find that sometimes a hands-on approach to solving a problem can be prudent when going straight to the computer doesn’t seem to be the answer. Often, a pencil, marker, or pieces of cut paper can be helpful solutions to the right path, whether the problem is print or digital media.
Learning new programs is very important to me and I feel it is necessary in order to grow as a designer. Because of this, I recently have crossed the barrier between print and digital design by beginning to learn the skills necessary for Adobe Flash and Dreamweaver, as well as Muse.
Along with these programs I also have experience with print advertising and large and small format printing. I have worked with a wide variety of materials that ranged from small, business card-sized newsprint ads to large window displays and banners.
In the future I want to further my experience in digital and print advertising and make customers happy and have fun making commercial artwork and meeting new people.
