Fashion. Style. Texture. Color. Patterns. I’ve always felt a connection to creating a vision, combining
elements to compliment one another that create a visual representation of a product. Thousands
of people might someday see and purchase something that’s my creative vision? Sign me up.
I found an outlet for my passion majoring in fashion design at West Virginia University. Seeing my own
product, something I’d spent hours perfecting, both on paper and on a sewing machine, walk down the runway on a model was awe-inspiring. But something was missing. After graduation, working in sales gave me the space to realize my creativity could be better focused through graphic design. I jumped at the opportunity to learn new techniques to realize my creativity.
Typography classes honed my interest in clean design. I could make basic type a work of art! I’m now a convert to the “less is more” philosophy. This inspired a major project: a non-traditional calendar. Combined with my sense of humor, my interest in social media, and my design skill, I put together a product that not only showcased my finest attributes, but that is marketable, too.
Screen-printing merged my expertise in fashion design with my newfound love of graphic art. Designing a graphic and printing it onto a piece of fabric fused together my favorite assets and helped me realize even more that art is commercially viable.
I look forward to utilizing my knowledge of both fashion and graphic design, my strong work ethic, and my creative and conceptual vision in a professional capacity, helping an agency realize a shared creative vision.
