Bosch Rexroth
Apr 2013 - Present (11 years 7 months)
Due to my previous product development and project management success with Bosch I was asked back to take over the project management of the main product platform development for the plant.
The project had been facing several delays and the complexity was such that they needed a safe pair of hands to see the project through stage gates to SOP.

Senior Design Engineer
SKF Livingston
Nov 2012 - Mar 2013 (4 months)
Livingston is the SKF Condition Monitoring Center, giving feedback of live bearing running conditions. I was initially engaged to review and engineer the application of the technology in different bearing environments.
A drive to launch new technology at a Hannover exhibition, meant Livingston had to develop an exhibit for the show.
The exhibit was to be the centre piece to the SKF stand which displayed 2 bearings under different conditions and presented the results on remote screens, so the quality of both engineering mechanical elements and the aesthetic quality had to be to a very high standard. Within extremely short timescales challenging my engineering experience and relying on my own supplier base for some of the components.
The exhibit was successfully unveiled at the Hannover exhibition by the CEO of SKF.

A fantastic opportunity like this seldom comes along where you have to create the redefinition of a brand. Embedding fresh ideas in the complete product range of consumer product.
As the senior member of a small team to redefine the subsidiary Dirt Devil vacuum cleaner brand. I brought my depth of experience to the product development process and in particular the top of the range product I designed. A multi-cyclone unit which, was described as "a sea change in vacuum aesthetics", also outperformed all expectations and was by far the quietest of its power range.
A further success was to have my development sketches used as the backdrop for the launch exhibition at IFA Berlin 2012

As the Lead Design Engineer at ITT Defence. I set up the industrial design and mechanical engineering department and was responsibility for recruiting and building the department as a resource in the organisation. As part of my brief I had to bring the PDM system up to date for all the legacy products. I led work on 4 new products both creatively and technically consolidate our product range through better brand communication and across range ergonomics and interface transposition. I produced a design that greatly advanced the usability of and simplified the form factor of the combat soldiers Bowman radio. This redesign will reduce the soldier payload and extent its function in the combat day.
