Through painting I aspire to strengthen my ability to understand, communicate, and relate many connected aspects of the human experience. I am intrigued by the mind/body/soul connection and the exploration of their many facets. I often inquire about what causes individuals to look deeper within and deeper without, as well as what it is that they discover. I am forever curious about the different layers of the human experience, such as energy fields outside of the body, the anatomical body, the psychological realm, and something that is nameless that — in my imagination ― is deeper within and farther outward than any of these. All of these things combine like a chemical mixture and produce a small corner of our experience as beings here on earth.
I hope that the viewer can relate to and empathize with some of the topics that I portray in my paintings, as well as causing them to ask questions. Many of us have had very different lives, but perhaps there are certain elements of our experience that can cause us to put down our guard and feel a sense of unity.
Ultimately, by painting, I wish to become more conscious of my own experience here, as well as becoming conscious of others'.
