I am an active researcher in the area of systematic musicology. I am especially interested in topics of sensory adapatation, embodied cognition, and performance. I have undertaken research projects involving the Institute for Psychoacoustics and Electronic Music (IPEM) at Ghent University, Ghent University Department of Experimental Psychology, and the Royal Conservatory of Ghent. I have also taught at the university level in the area of systematic musicology for the Ghent University. I am a trained behavioral therapist and have worked for several organisation in the LAUSD- including FACT and IECP.
I am also an active performer and music educator- focusing primarily on opera and music theater. Finally, I have worked actively in the cultural creative sector in the development of artistic and educational programs for organisations . In this area, I have worked with organisations such as the Music School Lochristi, Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, and Flemish Opera, Santa Monica-Malibu District Advisory Committee for the Arts. In this area, I have developed skills in the area of program development and evaluation, financial oversight and planning, and measurement and validation of results.
I perform as a classical singer on a regular basis. For example, I recently performed the femal lead in the opera Anna Bolena at Scala with the Gentse Opera- en Belcantokoor.
