Kanika Sharma was born (1986) and raised in Jaipur, India. She went to National Institute of Fashion Technology, Hyderabad (Andhra Pradesh) for undergraduate program and earned Bachelor of Design, specializing in Accessory Design in 2008. After working for almost a year as a Designer in Uni Design Jewellery Pvt. Ltd., a diamond jewellery industry in Mumbai, she moved back to Jaipur (2009) to work with a not – for – profit organization called Access Development Services to provide design related livelihood solutions to handicraft artisans in Rajasthan.
While dividing her time between migrant Bengali jewellery artisans and forest dependant communities in Ranthambhore, she discovered her latent passion for photography. With an idea of using photography as a tool for development, she joined Post Graduate Diploma Program in Photography Design at National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad in 2010.
Currently, she works as an independent photo-artist and communication designer in New Delhi. She is one among the few artists practising Cyanotype Process of Alternative Photography in India.
Has a keen interest in Crafts , Developmental Design and Activism !
