Jose Alfonso is a Cuban American Industrial Designer based in Miami, Florida. Born in Hialeah in 1983, he was always fascinated with the art, design, and his curiosity for tinkering with things at a young age. He later pursued an education in design with his acceptance to Design and Architecture Senior High a well-regarded magnet program founded in the Miami Design District. After receiving multiple scholarships from Art Center College of Design and Cleveland Institute of Arts. He accepted an offer from College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan where he earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Industrial Design while tutoring, mentoring and helping incoming students.
He got his first taste of design when he was selected to join the Converse internship program in the summer of 2005, where he was part of the Star Chevron Team. After his undergraduate studies in 2006 he began his professional design career working with companies such as General Electric, Fossil, Group III and Swiss Watch International. His rapid sketching skills and immense design experience as well as manufacturing knowledge has helped contribute marketable ideas alongside brands like GE Profile, Adidas, Armani Exchange, Swiss Gear, Wenger and Swiss Legend.
He was the Creative Director at Metro Group Miami based in Hollywood, Florida. Where he was primarily responsible for designing, branding and marketing for Metro Signs Inc and Metrowrapz.
In 2016 Jose decided to pursue his Master of Fine Arts degree in Industrial Design enrolling online at Academy of Art University located in San Francisco, California while teaching at Design & Architecture Senior High in the Miami Design District.
In 2019 he accepted the role of Brand Production Manager at Britto® working alongside world renown Brazilian artist Romero Britto.
