Oil Pastel on Paper
April 2016
This piece was created as a class assignment in which students were instructed to make a piece inspired by a social issue. This piece sought to express the problem of growing narcissism that has resulted from the prevalence of social media. This self absorption can have deadly results; during 2015 more people died from taking selfies in dangerous situations than from shark attacks. This piece seeks to show the absurd obsession with image that many youth in this culture have.
