My passion for access to care is why NICHQ has expanded its public position on gender-affirming care over the past four years. This was the first of the "series" I supported and co-authored on affirming care. As an organization working in a field with heavily biased language, it's important for us to model the way through vulnerability.

Supporting our COO to write this piece on her lived experience with a child who identifies as nonbinary and drawing connections to the work we do was a great opening into this topic through personal narrative.
