Challenges:
-This product has a timer that releases a flying pig when the timer goes off. I couldn’t use a timer that needed batteries both because weight constraints, but also if it landed in wet grass we didn’t want the timer to short out. I engineered a mechanical timer that relied on a geared down spring that went off after a max time of 4 seconds.
-Making stuff fly is difficult, but landing is the hard part. I had to create a plane that was aesthetically pleasing could fly, but could be thrown over and over. I did this by engineering skid plates at the bottom of the plane’s fuselage and putting landing gears at the nose to make landing a lot more smooth.
