Educate, inspire, and mentor undergraduate students through classroom instruction (beginning and advanced levels), exhibition and internship opportunities, and professional practices. Lead development of Fiber and Textiles curriculum to reflect current professional practices and technological advancements in the field. This includes writing new courses (individual projects and grading criteria), hosting engaging visiting artists, arranging field trips, proposing and overseeing facility upgrades and maintenance, hiring adjunct faculty. Responsible for managing supply and equipment budget, keeping inventory and order studio supplies, communicating safety and operations of communal studio, and class scheduling. Project managed and taught sponsored project course with Guild & Grace / Fathead, LLC (2019).

Noonan Studio, LLC is a multidisciplinary art and design incubator that explores pattern, color, and materials for a variety of surface applications. We partner with manufacturers and distributors to produce custom collections from concept to production. Our portfolio includes a diverse range of national and international projects, including commercial upholstery, architectural glass, area rugs, wallcovering and home fashion.

Successfully educated, empowered, and developed 60+ students every quarter in courses related to Print and Pattern Design, Screen Printing, Advanced CAD Surface Design, Portfolio Preparation, and Professional Practices within the Undergraduate and Graduate Fibers Department. Project managed and taught sponsored project courses with Mayer Fabrics (2009) and The Limited (2012). Partnered with retailers and manufacturers to develop guidelines for student design competitions.

Designed and developed artwork for home textile products. Specified and amended artwork, materials, trims, embellishments, prints, woven qualities, and color palettes for new products. Collaboratively worked with merchandising, sourcing, and vendor partners to ensure design aesthetics, product direction, and quality were communicated effectively and executed to specifications. Increased rug sales through design direction and merchandising product by color. Successfully designed collections of bath coordinates (matching shower curtain, towels, and hard goods) for 12 brands. Directed color, fabrication, and visual merchandising of 8 solid towel brands and transitional end caps for over 1500 stores.

Designed several successful textile designs including Parlour, TV Land, Plinko, and Daktari. Created and adapted original artwork for various cloth qualities and loom tie-ups; ½ count, ¾ count, end-on-end, and tapestry constructions. Developed color blankets and edited colorways for new introductions. Identified opportunities for new product development, researched color and pattern trends. Created sales presentations to communicate color stories for coordinating products.

Developed original textile artworks for automotive interiors. Specialized in the design of Jacquard woven, digital and rotary screen prints, and Monarch and Mayer circular knit constructions. Assisted Design Managers in the correspondence of customer feedback and requests to internal design teams; functioning as a sales and design liaison. Presented pattern, color, and trend direction to various customers in Metro-Detroit and internal designers at the Milliken Design Center in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
