Clay Modelling Intern
Jaguar Land Rover
Apr 2014 - Sep 2014 (5 months)
In 2014 I was selected for a 6 month modelling placement at Jaguar Land Rover. As part of the placement, I was to work with 5 other students to design and model a dual brand vehicle inspired by the genre 'Film Noir'. Each of us specialised in different areas, including clay, CAS and Visualisation. My main role was to develop the clay model with another student, however, I also contributed significantly to the design process with my ideas and sketch work, and helped the other students in their areas in order to complete the project. During this placement, not only did I significantly improve my clay modelling skills, but I now have firsthand experience of the process of working in a team to design and model a vehicle and how each department works together to achieve this, as well as building my confidence. My skills in other areas such as Photoshop and digital rendering also improved considerably and I learnt news skills such as video editing. I also spent some time working on live projects with the clay modelling team where I learnt a considerable amount and really enjoyed working with them. My knowledge of the Jaguar and Land Rover brands is now in-depth and I understand how important of branding and professionalism is to the company. This whole experience was invaluable to me and I am proud of what I achieved there. It really consolidated my ambition to become a clay modeller.

Work experience - Bespoke Design
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars
Jul 2010 - Jul 2010
I spent a week in the Rolls Royce Bespoke Design department whilst studying in Sixth Form. This was my first experience in a real design department and I leant a lot about the process of design in an automotive company and the roles that different people play. I was shown how to sketch and render exteriors in a professional way as well as seeing the cars being build first hand.
