Jay Hardman

Active as a designer, artist and fabricator, I am a maker equally comfortable working in contemporary digital methods or traditional hand-crafted techniques. My education in design and training in the fabrication industry allows me to bring a variety of skills to creative projects, generating solutions that are evocative in both their concept and engineering.

During my career I have produced highly sophisticated sets for film productions, developed interactive installations and museum exhibits, constructed contemporary residences and exhibited visual art internationally. My ongoing work through the Design Futures Lab at Drexel University, and Integrated Product Design at The University of Pennsylvania, seeks to combine these experiences with a comprehensive understanding of digital design methods pertaining to interior architecture and design research. Through these projects, I have developed a strategy that can explore concepts of place-making, experience, and identity and turn them into meaningful objects or environments.
