A few years back I studied Fine Art as a BA at Nottingham Trent University. During this time I discovered a love for surface design, print and pattern, as well as an interest in digital art and video production, yet once graduated I let quite some time pass before opting to persue these interests in a professional nature. Instead I did the usual: travelled, volunteered, and worked in a variety of office environments. The in 2013 I took the plunge and enrolled on a Master's degree in Digital and Visual Communications at Wolverhampton University. This was a brilliant and eye opening experience, and and happy to say I passed with Distinction. Emphasis on this course was mainly on creative thinking, exploration of ideas, and theoretical study. While many of my counterparts had prior academic training or professional experience of the technical skills associated in their choses field, for me it was completely new, and it was down to me to self-teach and experiment my way to sucess. Perhaps being such a clueless novice helped me keep an open mind and hone my problem solving prowess.
Now that I've graduated I'm in the process of setting up as a freelance Illustrator and Designer. My main areas of interest are ecology, the natural world, and ethology (thats the study of animal behaviour). I also love patterns and textures, especially those with a natural or geometric theme. I'm willing to consider a wide array of projects, and I offer a specialist service in personalised contemporary portraiture.
