Art Director
Mattel
El Segundo, CA
Feb 2016 - Present (8 years 9 months)
I work along-side marketing to produce innovative ideas for the visual elements of Branding, Packaging, Advertising, and Digital Design. Working both hands on and directing outside vendors I help to create the identity of new brands and supplement with Product, Illustrations, App UI and UX, Web UI and UX, and Marketing Campaigns.
I currently support Mattel Games and Mattel's Advanced Concepts Team.
With a deep understanding of game communication and game mechanics I develop Branding, Packaging, Instructions and Product Graphics to support the games team.
Mattel's Advanced Concepts team delivers new, future forward, high complexity items to the Mattel portfolio. I support this team with Branding, Packaging, Product Graphics, Creative Marketing, Digital Design, and by Directing App Design and Web Design.

Principal Creative
Jan 2007 - Present (17 years 10 months)
I have been working steadily as a freelance graphic designer since late 2006 working on projects for artists, musicians, photographers, non-profit organizations and many others.
The type of work that I typically do is advertisement, branding, collateral, and the typical roles of a production artist doing image retouching and image manipulation.
I assist clients in creating their identity, I don't typically refer to it as branding as my clients are not live-stock and the process is not as quick. I work with my clients to discover what they need and how we can communicate their benefits and fulfill their needs with a cohesive set of elemental tools to complete their identity. This process often includes logo, business cards and other collateral as well as some form of a style guide for the client to use in future collateral, advertisement and production.
I do web design specializing in html, css and javascript. I help a lot of clients transition from flash sites to html css and javascript sites by showing them that a site does not need to have flash to be interactive. My web practice also consists of using elements of a clients existing site to create mobile sites for them.
