I was approached by the Director of Marketing for CRAFTSMAN and asked if I wanted to provide any input on the look of the OCC CRAFTSMAN chopper. HELL YEAH I would! He gave me the weekend to come up with something...
As a fan of the show, it was unreal to see these episodes! The bike really turned out nice, and they did stay pretty close to the sketch.
The idea for the saw blade spinners came to me from an old cartoon I saw as a kid! In the episode, termites were devouring everything made of wood while riding choppers with saw blade wheels!
The heart of the beast! Using the cowling from a push mower would not have been my first choice here, but it is an element that's associated with motors.
In this detail shot you can see how our products are translated into bike components. The sockets, air compressor, and circular saw were definitely things they’ve never incorporated into any other bike they've built.
Another design for the Chopper I created over that weekend. Obviously the ratchet was the main element here!
A backup design focusing on the brand color pallet rather than incorporating literal tool elements. I anticipated some pushback from Paul Sr. on the previous concepts since their initial direction was an old school look. He was really open when we presented these new concepts, despite having already begun the old school build. They were really up for the challenge that the new design presented, and the final result is something both teams are very proud of. Thank you OCC, job well done!!
