My paintings are inspired by the natural world and delicate eco-systems of our beautiful planet, from the fragile coral seas to the lush green rainforests.
They are my interpretations of certain visits from around the world that I’ve been lucky enough to experience. My earlier works ‘Ephemeral Shoals’ had began after spending six months in Australia, visiting and swimming in the Great Barrier Reef.
In February last year, my family and I were privileged enough to visit other family members in Borneo. We stayed in national parks and visited orangutans in a conservation areas. We also visited a national park called Danum Valley, a primary Rainforest conservation area. We had to make this special trip as we know how rare an opportunity like this would be. We trekked deep in the dense beautiful rainforest and whilst doing this, seeing the beauty along with the stark realisations that rainforests everywhere are under a huge threat. This visit had an immensely profound and life-changing impact on me.
It was then that this new inspiration for my new collection was born. Along with capturing the life and beauty of the lush green rainforests, I wanted to raise awareness of the importance of protecting and nurturing all our forests, and rainforests in particular. And through my sales, I hope to raise money for Rainforest Alliance and Earth Alliance. These are charities I believe can make a huge difference in protecting the rainforests around the world. I hope to help protect the rainforests through my paintings. I hope you will enjoy them as much as I loved painting them!
