Bold colors, geometric patterns, and botanical profiles capture the eye in Fabien Rolland’s work. Inspired by his love of the ocean, surfing and travel, His work articulates the spirit of the water and awe of nature.
Initially destined for a cabinet making vocation. Fabien has always been fascinated by design.
He joined an industrial product design course at L'Ecole de Design Nantes Atlantique (France). This program became a transition in his career as he wanted to become a furniture and interior designer, while continuing to use his skills as a cabinet maker.
He was fortunate to continue in the Design and Visualisation Master course at the Birmingham Institute of Art and Design (England), where he learned about strategic design, emerging technologies and manufacturing processes, people-centered design and storytelling.
He was able to apply his skill set and gain nine years of practical design experience through various companies.
He enjoys designing sustainable products, since this is what first attracted him to product design. But what really interest him is looking for design opportunities in areas that are relatively untouched, looking at society and environment; desiging products and interior spaces that solves existing problems and create innovative solutions.
He believes that his background as a cabinet maker gives him valuable skills in problem identification, analysis and innovative solutions.
