MoS Gordon Wing environmental graphics design - This project originated to recognize the new Gordon Wing at the Museum of Science in Boston. I designed the supergraphics for the 104' soffit, 40' and 16' interior walls including the three dimensional lettering. I oversaw the painting and application of the letters by outside vendors. This project also includes wayfinding and identity graphics throughout the new wing and the entrance.
Exterior shot of Gordon Wing exterior environmental graphics - I created this large scale (48"w x 48"h) illustration to accompany the "Which Bat" component in the Museum of Science's exhibit that augments the Baseball As America touring exhibit. I took my illustration style using a silkscreened look from old baseball programs and ads. I chose distinctive typefaces that evoke nostalgia but with an edge.
Gordon Wing interior wall design and exhibit products display - Final design for The Quest for Immortality exhibit logo used throughout the Museum of Science exhibit and on all collateral materials for our venue. I drew the eyes based on an artifact in the exhibit because they were very dynamic.
Tabletop activity label for Communication Cafe exhibit - The Communication Cafe is a two-sided seated kiosk based on a 1950s diner. It contains videos, computer interactives and tabletop activities. The signage utilizes a very limited color palette with a variety of "retro" typefaces, and a pattern based on the laminate on the tabletop. I drew many 1950's style illustrations based on clip art from the era. "Fluid Intelligence" is a memory game.
Gordon Wing window directory - This panel is one of four based on the fish characters in The Virtual Fish Tank. I created a different "environment" for each of the panels based on their characters. Buttons allowed the visitor to choose which rules applied to that species in the tank.
Gordon Wing interior directory - This is a 32"w x 84"h video panel for the Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination traveling exhibit. This is the typical style I designed for the content labels. The preproduction paintings and sketches from the films were the basis of the look throughout the exhibit. By using a "slice" of the original imagery, the paintings became more dynamic and immediate. In addition, each of the 38 panels contained text, an image of the full painting and a third had video screens.
