Emily is a New York City based award-winning industrial design consultant available for freelance. Recent clients include Pushd Inc./Aura Frames, Intel, BarkBox, L’Oreal, Williams-Sonoma, Sony, Lunar Design, Striiv, Society Creative, Kicker Studio, Sightglass Coffee, TekGear, Worldwise, and Square, Inc. She is works with a wide range of companies, from Fortune 500s to small start-ups. Specialties are product development strategy, creative direction, concept development sketches, technically detailed 3D Solidworks modeling, and collaborating across teams and suppliers to carry human-centered designs through to production.
Having also worked in Chicago, San Francisco and Milan, she brings over 16 years of industrial design consultancy experience, consisting of creative and technical development of house-wares, electronics, toys, and package innovation. She holds more than a dozen design patents, and her work has been featured in publications including The New York Times, Oprah's Favorite Things 2016, Fast Company, Time Magazine, HOW Magazine, Appliance Manufacturer, Brand Packaging, ID Magazine, Innovation, Good Housekeeping, Real Simple, and the Chicago Tribune.
Formerly Design Director for laga | one80 design (Brandimage), Emily managed projects and strategic innovation for clients such as Dell, Unilever, The Republic of Tea, Nestlé, ConAgra, PepsiCo, and Dial. She directed the industrial design team, collaborated with graphic designers, architects and strategists, and coordinated workflow across multiple global offices.
Prior engagements also include the Innovation Lab at Arnell Group where she designed a line of small appliances for Electrolux and products and packages for many Fortune 500 companies. Working with A2, Inc. and Callaway & Kirk she developed more than forty products from concept sketch to market.
She holds a BFA in Industrial Design from the University of Kansas and has also studied at Rhode Island School of Design and The School of Visual Arts in New York.
