I believe we carry hidden notions of self, of who we should and could be. I believe that Design achieves its highest value when it helps us become that self. My intention is to create transformative experiences, ones that make us healthier, happier and wiser.
In my twenty years of experience, I have used empathy, meaning and craft in hopes of improving the human condition. I focus on design theories that promote cognitive and behavioral change. As a Creative Director this has been realized through the design of products and services for health diagnosis and monitoring, personal health management, physical fitness, wellness, learning and teaching. On a given day I lead multi-disciplinary teams in research, ideation, strategy, interaction design, visual design and industrial design for our world’s leading organizations.
During the dotcom boom I spent six+ years defining the online presence for Fortune 500 companies, leading branding, visual and interaction design for B2B and B2C web solutions.
I completed my graduate work in Stanford’s Learning, Design and Technology program. There I researched and developed user-centered technologies, environments and experiences for learning. My particular interest is in Media Literacy education for both classroom and non-traditional learning environments. In '95, I earned a BS in Design from the University of Cincinnati, and completed 3 years of professional work designing print, environmental and interactive solutions during and after that undergraduate work.
