Corbin Hall was the first women's residence hall at KU. The English Colonial-style dorm opened in 1923. It housed 120 women in single and double rooms, while a kitchenette and living room were provided on each floor. The original plan to build eight dormitories in a quadrangle around the site of the University's first building, North College, was abandoned and two residence halls were eventually constructed in the area, currently known as Corbin and GSP Hall.
Working in KU's Housing Department as a Painter's Apprentice/Student Crew Leader, I had the opportunity to work with the Interior Designer for KU Student Housing and a fellow Interior Design classmate to carry out the details of their design.
There were seven floors involved in the renovation, each represented by a unique color palette. The project included new flooring, wall treatment, furniture, lighting, and artwork.
