Information Specialist III
Texas WIC
Austin, TX
Present
In my current role, I write, edit, design and produce various materials for print and online use. I write and edit content for a variety of literacy levels. One of the primary duties is creating and editing graphic design projects using Adobe Creative Suite software. My work involves proofreading and producing a variety of media for use by the agency, the public and other state agencies. I create materials that communicate complex medical and nutritional information and ideas to the general public. I work with subject matter experts to see a project from inception through completion. I meet tight deadlines while managing multiple projects. I work under minimal supervision with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. One of my assigned projects involves furthering Texas WIC's social media presence by designing inventive and modern posts and videos to help increase public awareness of our services. I generate materials for social media outlets, such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. My work on the staff newsletter, the WIC Wake Up, has increased staff participation and readership. An important goal while staff works remotely is for us to stay connected as an organization. To meet this objective, I created the WIC Wake Up Committee that consists of members from each Texas WIC branch to help engage their teams and contribute content and ideas to better engage the staff. I manage the committee, develop and organize quarterly meetings, agendas, editorial calendars and communicate with committee members about upcoming content and deadlines.
