As an industrial designer with a wide range of skills, I always have a lot of projects on the go. My work is informed by my varied interests and activities. I am an accomplished martial artist with a 3rd degree black belt in karate, a white-water canoeist, backcountry snowboarder, tree planter, constant crafter and co-founder of Slashpile Designs jewelry studio.
My experience sewing bags and purses for Flare Fabrics has given me an in-depth understanding of the construction and design of soft goods. On many occasions, I create my own patterns or alter existing patterns to sew items that suit specific needs.
Through running my own business, I have honed my ability to work very efficiently, often juggling many different aspects of the company at the same time. I work extremely hard and I love to contribute as a part of a team.
I am proficient in Solidworks, Rhinoceros, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Using these programs, I have the ability to create detailed models, renderings and drawings of parts and have experience working with suppliers to bring them from concept to manufacture.
I have a very positive attitude and a willingness to learn
. I graduated with distinction from the Ontario College of Art & Design with a degree in Industrial Design. (I received a different kind of honour when I was also voted ‘bubbliest’ in my graduating class.)
