Edison Standard Phonograph Restoration
A few years ago, I bought an old, inoperable, and dismantled Edison Standard 'Model A' Phonograph off eBay, and I have since been meticulously restoring it.
One of the most noticeable details of the machine is the gold pinstriping which can be seen around the outside of the 'bedplate'. Perhaps thus far, this has been the most fun challenge; after-all, re-pinstriping the 'bedplate' required much concentration!
Also, the inner workings (not shown) of this contraption for reproducing sound off of a cylinder (unlike a circular vinyl album) record were so intricate and amazing, that I readily and tangibly see why Thomas Edison was such a genius.
I am currently sanding and refinishing the wooden cabinet which came with the purchase, and afterwards, I shall reapply water-slide decals in their respective locations which I bought along with other parts from a Californian company.
