I was told in my first interview for a marketing role that I hadn’t marketed myself very well. It wasn’t from a lack of experience, bearing in mind I was 18 at the time and had made quite a few websites for friends, but that I had no presence online, so proving I was capable of doing a great job was difficult.
Looking back, that was my first introduction to the importance of digital marketing. Before you even get a chance to have a conversation with someone, they’ve researched you and made assumptions of your credibility. Luckily in my case, I had a face-to-face meeting that changed this, but in the world of business, where customers need to be immediately impressed to consider you, it’s a much harder feat to achieve.
I've since worked on marketing & creative campaigns to drive results for clients and via in-house roles
