Cheryl Gorder is the recipient of a Benjamin Franklin award for book design from Publishers Marketing Association. She was runner-up for Small Press Publisher of the Year and more than a dozen of her books were on the Small Press Bestseller List many years running.
She was listed on the Wall of Tolerance (2005) awarded by the National Campaign for Tolerance, honoring those who are taking a personal stand against intolerance for her book Sammy: Child Survivor of the Holocaust, a book and teaching guide which are tools for teaching tolerance. She was also commended on this book by film director Steven Spielberg. She was acknowledged by the Century Society (2005- 2006) awarded for helping Native American Children.
Over the past twenty years Gorder has published more than 200 titles. She has been the owner of several publishing companies: Blue Bird Publishing, Angel Dawn Books, DollarSmart Books, and Eagle Spirit Publishing.
Cheryl Gorder is a graduate of South Dakota State University (BA) and Lehigh University MBA). She has also studied at Stanford University (post-graduate) and Santa Fe Community College (film development).
