Dental Laboratory Technician I Specialisation in gold and ceramics
Various
Düsseldorf, Germany
Jan 1998 - Mar 2010 (12 years 2 months)
If someone asks me, how this profession matches to my design skills, it is always a pleasure to answer:
Creativity, accuracy, patience, sense for colors and forms, knowledge of materials. Only to name a few.
I am specialized in gold and ceramics restorations and I used my learnings also as a fundament for my jewellery design.
For example - to create, cast and finish a crown or a jewellery piece follow exactly the same steps and procedures.
Actually there exists far more overlappings, in materials, tools and skills, than someone would think in the first place.
Replacing partial or total loss of natural teeth by constructing partial or full dentures
Restoring natural teeth by fabricating crowns and bridges
Constant cross-checking of color and fit with the patient face to face, while rebuilding the natural teeth
Completing implantology procedures by fabricating prostheses to fit implants
Constructing prostheses
Making models of the mouth and teeth from impressions of the patient's mouth
Building-up wax replicas of the teeth on the model
Encasing the wax in a mould material and melting away the wax
Replacing the wax with metal, or ceramic materials to make the replacement appliance
Polishing and finishing the appliance prior to its being placed in the patient's mouth by the dentist
