Carrina Dong

- Student research team investigating the effect of microgravity on corneal biomechanics, joint project spans two campuses - Duke University and Embry Riddle Aeronautical University
- Through NASA's Reduced Gravity Student Flight Opportunities Program, project has been chosen to fly on a zero-g plane at NASA's Johnson Space Center, where access to a microgravity environment is provided

- Project team for ASME's annual human powered vehicle challenge. Tasks involve researching materials, drawing preliminary designs and obtaining additional funding.
- Gained experience in applying principles of engineering to vehicle design and creatively addressing design problems given physical and cost constraints. Improved skills in working as a team member and in long term project planning.

- Worked on two research projects. Current project involves investigating new techniques for colloidal crystal formation by manipulating properties of a liquid marble.
- Gained experience in manipulating material properties, using high speed imaging systems and software, and in evaluating physical systems in micro scale. Learned to tackle research roadblocks through creative experimental design in becoming an effective researcher and scientist.

- Served as peer advisor for freshman engineering students, provided advice and mentoring to help integrate new students into the Pratt community
- Gained experience in providing academic and personal guidance.
