This customized Airstream trailer was built to promote the comedy series ‘Dave’ on FX at SXSW.
Dave is a very adult-themed comedy about a rapper named ‘Lil Dicky, and the show is rife with phallic humor. In that vein, FX wanted to serve hot dogs in a stand branded with the show’s key art.
To make it look like the boxers in the client’s key art, I designed a wrap with photographic fabric textures and a structural waist band crowning the trailer, also wrapped in fabric-texture graphic. A label with snarky copy fluttered in the wind as the Airstream rolled down the road, accompanied by a jiggling wiener mounted to the rear. Hot dogs would be served through the bulging fly, continuing the bawdy gag and adding a level of squirmy fun to the experience.
