Computing Honours Project:
In my final year at university I was presented with the challenge of writing an academically
rigorous dissertation with a topic of my choice. This was to be accompanied with the creation of
a fully functional game which was used to conduct some form of empirical research. My
selected topic for the aforementioned dissertation was “Reviewing the concepts of audio and
their importance to games immersion”. I obtained 72% for this project after
completing extensive statistical analysis, of which was far more advanced than what would
normally be used for an honours dissertation. The project taught me how to manage my time
for a given task with great efficiency, along with greatly increasing my academic writing skills
and presentation skills alike. I feel far more comfortable tackling unfamiliar problems after
undergoing this task. This module, of which lasted a full year, also gave me extreme fluency
with the game development kit UDK which was used to implement my honours project game.
