Multidisciplinary Design Specialist
Carson, CA
Jun 2018 - Feb 2019 (8 months)
After only 5 months as a member of the marketing team, I was promoted to Senior Designer reporting to the Art Director and CEO. An added Team Lead role brought me into direct contact with external clients, even while I continued to design quality collateral for our agency clients (majority Nielsen) and internal design projects.
I’m proud to say that this role strengthened my understanding of design strategy, a concept I now embrace and bring to my client projects. In this role, my experience broadened across multiple strategies that were employed to consistently deliver large projects successfully - in a short amount of time. It was an outstanding learning experience from which I continue to draw today.
My responsibilities included team training to ensure consistent design across delivery platforms that included PowerPoint presentations, charts, whitepaper reports, image editing, and web-based graphics.
In this fast-paced company environment, my professional attitude developed to include patience, empathy, and leadership. It was not unheard of for a deliverable to be assigned the same day it was due! The delivered design had to be technically error-free, graphically appealing, and meet the client’s stated goal.
My team was successful in producing collateral that met and exceeded the client’s stated goals as shown in how frequently new clients returned for their next project as retainer clients.

Bid and Presentation Specialist
Adelaide, Australia
Jun 2017 - Jun 2018 (1 year)
I was drawn to join this global engineering giant because it offered an opportunity to test the limits of my ability as a designer. It also offered a competitive environment, which I found appealing. As a designer for this global engineering firm, I reported to a Team Leader and was tasked with interpreting technical engineering data and transforming the information into graphical elements that could be easily understood by clients.
The bid documents, brochures, and PowerPoint presentations I designed were used by the sales and marketing team to bolster multi-million-dollar bids for new business.
My role on this team, while not significant in appearance, was critically important and I learned invaluable lessons. The task of creating a graphically appealing design does not end until perfection is delivered. I learned to embrace zero tolerance for error in my work. In addition, I came to understand how a single typo can have a huge impact on whether a contract is signed or not.

Manila, Philippines
Mar 2016 - Jun 2017 (1 year 3 months)
In this role, I worked directly with the marketing team reporting to the Corporate Communications Manager. The scope of this international non-profit organization focuses the power of social marketing to impact family planning and health issues. Using a lean team of less than 50, they are one of the largest providers of family planning products worldwide.
My responsibilities included producing campaign ads for social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. I found the environment and team to be energizing to me, professionally. I looked forward to each work day because the people I worked with were like family.
This level of team support emboldened me and taught me how to challenge myself as a designer. I became a passionate and innovative designer who proposed new approaches to their design which contributed to their brand trending on social media. When I started, they had 10K followers on Facebook. At the time I resigned they had reached 110k followers. I am confident that my designs and contributions to the team played a role in this growth.

Senior Graphic Designer
El Segundo, CA
May 2011 - Mar 2016 (4 years 10 months)
PCM is an International IT provider of technology solutions including hardware products, software, and services. I reported to senior creatives during my tenure and became a senior creator myself responsible for high-tier design concepts for print and web. My responsibilities included onboarding and training designers in the quality standards required by the company and clients.
In many ways, I grew up as a designer with PCM. I was a novice when I joined the company. I left as an experienced leader and expert designer.
With clients including giants such as Adobe, Microsoft, and Apple, I eagerly learned all I could about the wide range of design needs of our big corporate clients. As my skill level with the design tools (e.g., Photoshop and Illustrator) grew, so too did my understanding of marketing and advertising concepts. The banners I produced began to generate almost twice the usual traffic.
