Owen Runners are a family track team and approached me to design their team apparel for the upcoming meet and future races. They requested the logo design to be reminiscent of the beloved Looney Toons' Roadrunner while having the North Carolina Tar Heel's color pallet.
The original roadrunner has a playful confidence that is reinforced by his cartoonish anatomy, acknowledging this, I wanted to portray confidence without the cartoonish appearance. The Tar Heel color reference provided a modern contrast. Drag racer vehicles, the Seattle Sea Hawks and the bird’s nimble anatomy inspired this sharp, aerodynamic roadrunner effortlessly sprinting at the highest speeds. The script typeface was chosen to echo the momentum and speed of the dust upon take off.
