Hi, there! My name is Blair and I am from the Winston-Salem area of North Carolina. I am a graduate of Appalachian State University, with two separate degrees. My first time at AppState I majored in Global Studies with a concentration in Linguistics and a minor in German. In addition to German, I have also studied Spanish, Chinese and American Sign Language. I realized during the course of my studies that I missed having a creative aspect to my life. I simply wouldn't be happy in a career as an interpreter or a translator because "coloring outside the lines" isn't generally encouraged. I took some time to figure out my next step and decided to go back to school to study design. I got very lucky and was able to return to my alma mater to attain a degree in Industrial Design, concentrating in Product Design with a minor in marketing.
While in school for product design, I completed an internship with Altitude Sign Company, a local business based in Matthews, NC and participated in a senior studio sponsored by the packaging company WestRock. Following graduation, I was accepted as a graphic design intern at Gryphon House, Inc., the publishing subsidiary of Kaplan Early Learning Company. I have maintained continued experience with young children throughout both degrees by working in a home daycare and at Build-A-Bear Workshop.
