Ben Hollands

I work as a senior lighting designer in the UK, in addition to creating my own sculptural pieces and related artwork.

I like to focus on the object alongside the larger picture, the effects of light within a space, and solutions from the unexpected.

My work is influenced by an interest in physical structure and pattern - observed in the natural world or in man-made objects. My role as a lighting designer has taught me to appreciate the non-physical aspects of light and space, and the relationship between an object and its surrounding environment.

I value teamwork, respect and learn from the criticism and views of others. I believe in my own abilities, and always keep a sketchbook by my bed just in case.
