Seattle Aquarium Identity Redesign

This project was completed as part of a case study and corporate identity course that I took while in the University of Washington's Visual Communication and Design program.

At the time, the Seattle Aquarium had recently undergone a multi-million dollar remodel, as well as a redesign of its existing identity. While the new facilities worked to reestablish the Aquarium’s position as a dominant public attraction within the greater Seattle area, I felt that its new identity failed to communicate this position to the public, or to distinguish it from local competition.

My idea behind this new mark was to communicate the dual nature of the Aquarium’s position as a family-friendly destination, as well as its continuing commitment to aquatic wildlife and habitat protection, an aspect of the Aquarium that is often overlooked.
