Goli (morning sun) - Glass marbles are rarely played with in modern-day Singapore, but their multicoloured centres have always been fascinating to me. Here I have sandwiched them between layers of plexiglas in a pattern derived from the batik tradition. I wanted to capture the effect of raindrops on a window pane and chose the pattern known as 'ujan liris' (light rain). In the sun, the marbles refract the ever-changing light like a thousand crystals, casting an array of colours on the adjacent surfaces.

Goli (LED lights) - Glass marbles are rarely played with in modern-day Singapore, but their multicoloured centres have always been fascinating to me. Here I have sandwiched them between layers of plexiglas in a pattern derived from the batik tradition. I wanted to capture the effect of raindrops on a window pane and chose the pattern known as 'ujan liris' (light rain). In the sun, the marbles refract the ever-changing light like diamonds, casting a variety of colours on the adjacent surfaces.
