I joined the 147 years old organization with two primary responsibilities – To head their design department spread across 4 categories in Textiles, Engineering, Composites and Innovation; and also to raise a new division – Loomshed in premium home linen.
The objective was to gain a better design functionality and ergonomics on their existing product line, as well as to complete ongoing projects and develop a new one.
With a staff of 14 people which includes designers, product developers and merchandisers under me and from an ideology which implies great quality product with timeless appeal and right priced, we launched innovative products across 18 categories which have become a trustworthy name for some of the top luxury brands of the world in the B2B segment and is still growing.
The success of Loomshed was featured as the top 20 most promising brands in Architectural Digest India and ElleDé cor India in their annual yearbook 2018.
For the Engineering and Innovation department, I was involved in the execution of various cutting edge project with glass and carbon fibers in the development of sustainable geotextiles to name a few.
In the span of 3 years, I had the opportunity to represent the company on various international platforms like Maison and Objet, Paris; Moods, Brussels; Heimtextil, Frankfurt.
Being the head of the department, my secondary responsibilities also included operations, vendor liaisons, customer acquisitions, conversion of leads, preparing of departmental budget and balance sheet, vertical integration across categories, developing of branding and marketing Concept and production.

Associate Lecturer

With my constant love and interest in academic, I was involved in various teaching endeavours over the years. I was appointed as a guest lecturer in undergraduate and postgraduate level and also a member of the Jury by my alma mater National Institute Of Fashion Technology.
I was the guest lecturer in applied designing for Rani Birla College, the designing department of the University of Calcutta.
I was also the visiting faculty for the computer-aided design for NSHM Kolkata, a knowledge hub for global excellence.
After I moved to Mumbai in pursuit for bigger career options, I was Invited as visiting faculty for Post Graduate Fashion Management by Mod Art International Mumbai, a branch of Mod Art Paris and also as guest faculty in Post Graduate Entrepreneurship Management by LeMark Institute of Art Mumbai.
Combining creativity with business technicality was the main ingredients behind my postgraduate modules to create entrepreneurs for tomorrow.

With the aim to lead the domestic home furnishing market, I was incorporated by Sumangal to build the brand NuHome. Starting from scratch, I lead a team of 8 designers to develop great designs that are effectively priced in jacquard, dobby, prints and embroidery.
Generated a revenue of 20 million within my tenure of 6 months through good designing, intelligent branding and smart sales strategy.
At the end of my contract, made NuHome, the second brand building of my career a household name for the tire 2 & 3 cities of India

Worked as consultant designer on a six-month contract in drapes and upholstery for some of the top apparel and furnishing brand in the European market. Works include weaving in Jacquard and dobby in natural yarns and in rotary and roller printing.

Crafted by hand, with great finish and quality was the idea behind the 1st entrepreneur venture of my career. Original innovative designs across various segments parallel to international trends raised WOI among the top 5 handloom brands in India.
With it’s epitome in quality fabrics, WOI became the brand of choice for many top fashion designers of India and gradually grew to the global fashion market .
Providing live hood to more than 100 families of rural India, WOI churned out a 40% growth in revenue each financial year since it’s inception. Developing interesting fabrics for runway and fashion lines across the globe became WOI signature style.

Senior project designer

Started off with just 15 weavers in a political earnest region, Incorporated around 50,000 weavers by the end of the project bringing social and financial upliftment to their lives. The course of action included training of weavers, creating consortium among them and planning & implementing funds to develop self-help design centres at a different part of the state.
Working with traditional techniques on a modern platform, raising product quality in terms of design, aesthetic and diversification by infusing global standard in Indian handicrafts was my other key input to this position.
The product thus developed travelled across the globe to various Indian Government foreign trade exhibit. For the efforts, Shantipur District in West Bengal won the best progressive cluster award among 32 clusters in India.
