Birch Plywood Studio Desk
This is a two piece desk made out of Baltic Birch plywood. There is the lower, oh so spacious desk which provides ample room for projects and the upper, smaller monitor desk (scroll down to see photos of the two together). The height of the upper and lower desks were made specific for it's intended user (aka my girlfriend) so she didn't have to strain her neck when looking at the monitor, for example. The Cedar keyboard tray is held by two store bought metal brackets attached to two Maple strips. As with the rest of the desk, the tray has also been adjusted to the most ergonomic position for her. The construction used pocket holes + pocket screws but no glue (so we can dismantle it when moving); clamps held the butt joints tight while screws were inserted. There are two ties - i.e. wooden strips - in the back of each to prevent the legs from splaying out. Finished with Linseed Oil and Howard's Paste Wax.
